Bus parade for Autumn/ Winter Fire Prevention Campaign 2013/14

The Home Affairs Department held a bus parade under the Autumn/Winter Fire Prevention Campaign 2013/14 on 6 December 2013 to promote effective building management and to raise public awareness of fire safety during the dry seasons of autumn and winter.
The Assistant Director of Home Affairs, Mr Franco Kwok; the Assistant Director (Fire Safety) of the Fire Safety Command of the Fire Services Department, Mr Lo Siu-hang; and artiste Lai Yiu-cheung officiated at the launch ceremony at Southorn Playground in Wan Chai. Mr Lai was appointed as the "Star of Building Management" and assisted in disseminating the messages about proper and effective practices in building management and fire safety.
The bus parade started off from Southorn Playground and toured around various locations in the territory including Paterson Street in Causeway Bay, Java Road in North Point, Nga Tsin Long Road in Kowloon City, Portland Street in Mong Kok, Yu Chau Street in Sham Shui Po and Chung On Street in Tsuen Wan. Messages on building management and fire prevention were broadcast at the stopping points. The guests, members of the District Fire Safety Committees, Resident Liaison Ambassadors and Fire Safety Ambassadors distributed leaflets and souvenirs to the public, reminding them to reduce fire risks through better management of the common parts of buildings, such as conducting regular checks on fire-fighting and electrical equipment, keeping smoke doors closed and ensuring that the means of escape are clear of obstruction.

The guests participate in the bus parade touring around various locations in the territory to promote the importance of effective building management in fire safety.
