(12 March 2013)
The Home Affairs Department (HAD) held a presentation ceremony for Resident Liaison Ambassadors (RLAs) and graduates of the LEAD Programme cum seminar and experience sharing session on 12 March 2013. A total of 56 RLAs and LEAD Programme graduates were commended for their active involvement in and contributions to building management in the past year.
Addressing the Ceremony, the Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Raymond Young, said the HAD has all along been committed to the promotion of a good building management culture, and has introduced various targeted measures to provide the necessary support for owners and residents. Mr Young praised the RLAs and LEAD Programme graduates for their tremendous efforts and appealed for their continued support to further promote the awareness and concept of effective building management in the community.
The LEAD Programme graduates have been enthusiastic in building management work. Serving as “Mentors of the Public”, they shared their experience and knowledge to help the Government promote a good building management culture in the community. For the RLAs, they have made achievements in facilitating the formation of owners' corporations in their buildings, and have played an active role in planning and implementing maintenance works to improve the living environment of old buildings.
The representatives from the Urban Renewal Authority were invited to the Ceremony to give owners of old buildings a briefing on the Integrated Building Maintenance Assistance Scheme and associated services so as to provide them with more information on the Scheme. A graduate of the LEAD Programme also shared her experience in building maintenance.
